We walk through Longshaw via Yarncliffe Quarry to Padley Gorge, on to Bole Hill Quarry and the remains of the winding house for information on the history of the quarry and tramway, which we descend on the way to Lawrencefield and Over Owler Tor, then via Winyards Nick to Toad’s Mouth and back to the start, with the option of refreshments at Longshaw or the Fox House pub.

Travel: 271 bus from D2 in Pond Street Interchange at 09:40 to Fox House
Parking: Longshaw Woodcroft NT car park. Free to members. Free parking on wide grass verge near pub.
Terrain: Moderate ascents and descents on good paths through woodland and open moors
