Dance Theatre of Harlem Founders' Week: Fifty Years of History | The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, The Bruno Walter Auditorium | vrijdag, 15. februari 2019

On February 11 1969 the charismatic Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook took their first steps toward changing the course of history for ballet. In the fifty years that have followed their company, Dance Theatre of Harlem, has become an international force known equally for excelling in classical repertory and providing a radical new narrative in the balletic canon. As the company celebrates the legacy of its founding with a series of special events, please join us at the Library for an evening of rare archival footage and expert commentary from a panel of Dance Theatre of Harlem luminaries.

(If you need assistance with online reservations, please visit the welcome desk at the Library for the Performing Arts' Lincoln Center Plaza entrance, where volunteers will make a reservation for you, even if you do not use email. For free events, The Library generally overbooks to ensure a full house. All registered seats are released 15 minutes before start time, so we recommend that you arrive early.)
